Birth Doula Support in South London

Your birth. Your body. Your choices. Your way.

Birth is one of life's most powerful and transformative experiences, and you deserve to feel safe, respected and supported every step of the way.

Whether you're preparing to welcome your first baby or have given birth before, I am here to walk alongside you, offering gentle reassurance, practical guidance and a calm, familiar presence.

I believe in the incredible ability of our bodies to birth physiologically, but I also recognise that there is no one right way to bring a baby into the world.

Whether you're planning a home birth, hospital birth, water birth, VBAC, induction or caesarean, my role is to support your choices, without judgement or expectation.

Above all, I want you to feel heard, informed and empowered throughout your birth experience.

Birth your way, unapologetically.

Preparing for Your Birth Together

Depending on the birth package you choose, we may meet up to four times during your pregnancy.

These antenatal sessions give us the opportunity to really get to know one another, build trust and explore your hopes, wishes and any worries you may have about birth.

Together, we can explore:

  • Understanding the different stages of labour and what to expect

  • Your birth preferences and the choices available to you

  • Breathing techniques, movement and positions for labour

  • Massage, relaxation and other comfort measures

  • Creating a calm and supportive birth environment

  • How your birth partner can feel confident and involved

  • Preparing for unexpected changes to your birth plans

  • Recognising early labour and knowing when to contact me

There is always space for questions, honest conversations and simply getting to know each other.

By the time labour begins, my hope is that I will feel like a familiar and trusted presence, someone you can relax around and be completely yourself with.

By Your Side During Labour

Every woman is different, and so is every birth.

For some, support means a reassuring hand to hold, a gentle massage or words of encouragement. For others, it may mean having someone quietly sitting nearby, protecting their space and allowing them to focus inward.

During our antenatal meetings, we'll explore what makes you feel comfortable, safe and supported.

I may offer massage to ease discomfort, suggest different positions, guide your birth partner or simply be there with you through each contraction.

I have a deep understanding of physiological birth, the different stages of labour and how to support women as their bodies move through this incredible process.

I also understand that sometimes the most valuable thing I can offer is simply my presence.

You don't need to entertain me, explain yourself or be anything other than exactly who you are.

Birth can be raw, powerful, emotional and unpredictable. I welcome all of it.

My role is to hold a calm, protected space where you feel free to labour and birth in the way that feels right for you.

Supporting Your Birth Partner Too

Your birth partner has an important role to play, and I'm not there to take their place.

Instead, I offer support to you both.

I can help your partner feel more confident by sharing practical ways to comfort and reassure you during labour, whether that's through massage, encouragement or simply knowing when to offer a quiet, comforting presence.

I'm also there to support them, giving them the opportunity to rest, eat or take a moment for themselves while knowing you have someone by your side.

Together, we can create a supportive birth team, with you at the heart of it.

When Birth Takes a Different Path

Birth doesn't always unfold the way we imagine, and sometimes plans change.

You may find yourself considering an intervention, a different form of pain relief or a birth experience that looks quite different from what you originally hoped for.

Whatever happens, my commitment to you remains the same.

I will offer reassurance, help you explore your options and support you in asking questions and making informed decisions.

I believe a positive birth experience isn't necessarily one where everything goes to plan, but one where you feel listened to, respected and involved in the decisions surrounding your care.

There is no judgement, no disappointment and no expectation to birth in a particular way.

Your experience matters, however your baby arrives.

Welcoming Your Baby

And then, after all the anticipation, your baby is finally here.

Those first moments together are incredibly special, and I will continue to offer gentle support as you welcome your little one.

Whether that's helping you settle comfortably for skin-to-skin, supporting your baby's first breastfeed or simply making sure you have everything you need, I'll be there.

As an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), I can also offer knowledgeable, compassionate support with those first feeds, should you wish.

And when the time feels right, with a little nod of your head, I'll quietly slip away, leaving you and your family in your own beautiful oxytocin bubble.

A moment to breathe, to take it all in and to soak up the sweet smell and love of your newest little arrival.

Why Choose Breathe Mama Doula?

I bring together my experience as a birth and postnatal doula, my specialist knowledge of infant feeding and my deep respect for the emotional and physical journey of becoming a mother.

My approach is gentle, intuitive, compassionate and grounded in the belief that every woman deserves to feel safe, supported and respected during birth.

I understand the importance of informed choice, continuity of care and having someone beside you who truly listens.

I don't come with an agenda for how your birth should look.

I come to support you.

Here is a testimonial from a Birth client -

Sabira is an incredible presence! Having her by my side during the birth of my son was an indispensable part of the experience, and I will always remember her kind, warm energy making me feel safe during the most intense moments of labour. I seriously will never forget holding her hand as I pushed! She radiates encouragement without even saying a word and she gave me the strength to make a difficult choice during the birth that ultimately made a huge (positive) difference to my recovery. I am forever grateful to her. In addition, she provided amazing support around breastfeeding in the first few days after the birth (and intensive education about breastfeeding during an antenatal session!) She really knows her stuff. Overall, working with Sabira was the best decision we made throughout the whole process.

Let's Talk About Your Birth

Choosing someone to support you during birth is a deeply personal decision, and finding the right connection matters.

I'd love to hear about your pregnancy, your hopes for birth and what you're looking for in a doula.

We can arrange an initial conversation, giving us the opportunity to get to know one another, ask questions and see whether we're a good fit.

I'd be honoured to walk alongside you as you prepare to welcome your baby. 🤍
